Roadrunner Freight Supports Women in Trucking

Recognizing Women in Trucking

At Roadrunner Freight, we proudly support and work with a diversity of Independent Contractors. The trucking industry is always changing and evolving, and that includes recruiting. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only six percent of truck drivers are women. Truck driver recruiting efforts have widened to include hiring veterans and younger talent, but not much attention has been placed on recruiting women truck drivers. Although women are the minority in the trucking industry, studies show that women exceed expectations by having lower turnover rates, having fewer accidents and logging more miles.

Women with Talent

According to Omnitracs, women drivers drive more miles, dwell for less time and have fewer
preventable accidents than men. Because women are involved in less accidents and log more miles per week, they increase overall efficiency and productivity which means more money in their pockets! Statistics show that women drivers averaged only 60 hours of dwell time compared to 80 hours for men. Data proves that women are talented, dedicated drivers who can have successful careers in trucking. Roadrunner Freight works to retain top talent, and we encourage any individual looking for a long-term career to apply here.
