Roadrunner VP Dave Renfrew Awarded Recruiting Professional of the Year

Nashville, TN (June 3, 2022) – Roadrunner VP of Driver Capacity Dave Renfrew has been awarded Transport Topic’s Recruiting Professional of the Year Award 2021.

The award recognizes outstanding recruiting professionals in their field who have demonstrated success for their companies. In the past 13 months, Dave and the Roadrunner team have:

  • Doubled hiring
  • Reduced cost-per-hire by more than 70%
  • Rebuilt processes to efficiently onboard drivers
  • Established safety standards above and beyond requirements
  • Built the framework for a Veterans’ program to give our nation’s service members entrepreneurship opportunities

“A year ago, when I joined the Roadrunner team, Frank Hurst, the president sold me on the vision of where he wanted to take the company,” said Dave. “My strengths are in building processes, restructuring, and bringing teams together. We’re able to get more accomplished as a unified group. We have phenomenal people, and we’ve come a long way in a year.”

“Dave has been an integral part of the Roadrunner rebuild,” President Frank Hurst said. “We’ve worked hard to create an environment that puts drivers in a position to succeed and empower them as entrepreneurs, which flows through to our customers. We’re lucky to have Dave as part of the Roadrunner family.”

“We’ve come a long way, and still have more work to do,” says Dave. “We reorganized to make our network more driver-friendly and we’ve restructured our leadership team, changed our culture, and broken down silos within the organization. I love the collaboration, teamwork, and culture.”

Dave received the Recruiting Professional of the Year award at the Transport Topics Sightlines event on June 3, 2022. “I know the two other panelists well and respect them very much,” Dave said of Betsy Waldrop, Director of Recruiting and Training at Freymiller and Lesley Vincent, Field Recruiting Supervisor at Melton Truck Lines. With 28 years in the industry, Dave commented, “This is what I know – it’s what’s in my blood. Recruiting allows me to provide people with business opportunities. That’s what I love.”

The winner of the Recruiting Professional of the Year Award is determined by anonymous nominations reviewed by previous winners. “We discuss the challenges and opportunities they face,” said Joe Howard, Transport Topics Executive Editor. “Driver recruiting has never been more competitive.”

Dave is responsible for recruiting, retention, orientation, lease purchase, equipment and driver safety qualifications for Roadrunner. He is also a certified director of safety.
